Dear Parents,

April 26-27, 2012, the sixth grade students will be offered the opportunity to participate in the annual overnight tour of Chicago.  The students will be visiting the Chicago Museum of Science, Shedd Aquarium, Medieval Times dinner and tournament, lunch along Lake Michigan, Willis Tower Skydeck, Chinatown, Navy Pier and Lake Tour.

You have the option to participate in fundraisers to help offset the cost of this trip and we will start off with our first one on Wednesday, August 31.  We will be taking orders for 100% recycled plastic trash bags. We sold them last year and did very well. They are heavy duty, come in various sizes and will be a must-have for everyone during the upcoming holiday seasons. Money and order forms need to be returned by Tuesday, September 28^th.  I am requesting this year that all money be turned in to me in the form of check or money order.  No cash.  Thank you.

The trip will approximately cost $260.00 and there is a $25.00 deposit required to sign up. The first deposit will be due Wednesday, August 24^th.   If you choose to not participate in any fundraisers, the cost of the trip can be divided into 5 payments (Oct. – Feb.) of $40.00, with a final payment of $35.00 due in March (per person going). If you choose to do any or all of the fundraisers that money earned will be deducted from your total trip cost.  We will also be selling candy bars throughout December and January.  In the past, parents have organized pop shots, dinners at the high school basketball games, sold food at the middle school games, and a bake sale.  If anyone is interested in organizing another fundraiser, please let me know.

This is open to 6^th grade students and any chaperone(s) wishing to attend. This is an excellent trip and hope you and your child are able to attend.

7:45 a.m.           Rest stop with continental breakfast.

9:30 a.m. CDT    Arrive at the Museum of Science & Industry

Lunch money ($10) provided and eat at your leisure in the food court

1:00 p.m.               Depart the museum

1:30-4:00           Visit the John G. Shedd Aquarium, including Wild Reef and 4-D movie

5:00                  Check-in at the Schaumburg, IL Comfort Suites

6:00                  Depart hotel for evening outing

6:15                  Arrive at Medieval Times for a great dinner and tournament

After the show mingle with the performers

10:00                Return to your hotel for the night

7:00 a.m.           Girls’ rooms to the conference room for breakfast

8:00                        Have motor coaches loaded and depart for downtown Chicago

9:00                  Visit the Sears Tower Skydeck for a wonderful view of the city

10:30-11:30         Browse the downtown area

11:30                     Depart for Navy Pier

12:00-1:30            Visit Navy Pier for a snack, on your own

1:45                  Board the boat for a Chicago Skyline and Lake Tour

2:40                  Reboard motor coaches and depart Navy Pier

3:00                  Cultural experience to be announced at a future date

????? EDT            Return to school after 2 fabulous days in Chicago land
